Labour and Birth facilities:
Palmerston North Hospital Delivery Suite has eight spacious labour/birthing rooms with ensuites. Five of these rooms include large baths that can be used for labouring and birthing. Each room has a telephone for free local calls.
There is no visitor’s waiting room in delivery suite. Support people need to be either in the room with the labouring woman or out in the waiting area by the lift bay.
Clients will remain in Delivery Suite for approximately two hours after birth, unless there are any complications. You may choose to go straight home from delivery suite or stay one or two nights on the postnatal/maternity ward.
