Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery  (OMF)

Oral and Maxillo-facial surgery (OMF) is surgery of the mouth, face and jaw.

Oral and Maxillo-facial surgery includes procedures and treatments for maxillo-facial trauma (eg.fractured jaws and soft tissue injuries), elective surgery for difficult dental and related procedures, treatment of oral cancers and other medicine and diseases of the mouth and face.


OMF services at MidCentral Health

There are two part time OMF specialists and a Dental House officer who work in close association with the outpatient dental department.  
OMF specialists also work closely with a number of other specialities including Radiotherapy, Plastic Surgery and Ear Nose & Throat specialists.
Services at MidCentral Health include outpatient clinics at the Ambulatory Care Centre, Palmerston North Hospital, Monday to Friday, emergency treatment for acute patients and some elective surgery.
