Dannevirke Community Mental Health Service

The community mental health service works from either the base site at the Dannevirke Community Hospital or in the community, depending on the level of individual need, using local resources wherever possible.



The Tararua Community Mental Health Service is a multi-disciplinary team providing specialist professional and confidential:

  • Assessment
  • Treatment
  • Education
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Support

For adults with a known or suspected moderate to severe mental illness.

Referrals to the service is preferred via your GP, however, we will accept referral via other health professionals and self referrals where appropriate.

Our hours of service are:
Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.30 pm.
