Welcome to the support services home page. Through the Regional Cancer Treatment Service (RCTS) you are able to access additional support services such as those linked to this page. In the future it is anticipated that more services will be added to those already available.


  • Breast Care Nurse


    The Breast Care Nurse is a member of the multi-disciplinary team, and provides specialist education, support and care to clients and their families and/or significant others.

  • Cancer Services Dietitian


    A dietitian is available to help you during your radiation therapy treatment. Talk to your radiation therapist or nurse if you are concerned that you are not eating well to arrange to see the dietitian.

  • Look Good Feel Better


    Look Good Feel Better is a free service offered to women undergoing treatment for cancer. The aim is to help restore and enhance the appearance of cancer patients both during and after treatment.

  • Lymphoedema


    Lymphoedema is swelling of the arm due to scarring of the lymph ducts after surgery or radiation. This can also happen in other limbs as well after similar treatment.. This condition may occur soon after surgery, or years later. If you think you may have lymphoedema, it is important to seek medical advise.

  • Prosthesis


    A grant is available to women who have undergone either a mastectomy or partial mastectomy for prosthesis. The grant is available through HealthPAC (the Ministry of Health’s Payment Agency) 0800 252 464.

  • Psycho-Oncology Services


    The Psycho-Oncology Service aims to improve the quality of life of children, adolescents, and adults with cancer, and to improve the quality of life of their families or whanau.
