MidCentral Health’s Public Health Service provides a service to prevent, investigate, control and manage notified infectious diseases in our region.

These activities include:

  • Investigating diseases in accordance with national and local protocols
  • Preparing for emergent or pandemic disease outbreaks
  • Providing training and support to refugee settlement programmes
  • Providing and disseminating information on disease trends and issues
  • General infectious disease surveillance activities
  • Promotion of personal hygiene, hand washing, cough etiquette
  • Research into disease surveillance best practice
