Alcohol and Other Drugs
The Alcohol and Other Drugs Services are committed to working in partnership with people whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drugs.
The service offers a professional and quality service which aims to reduce alcohol and other drug related harm.
The service supports recovery by promoting positive change and health choices for individuals and their families.
The Specialist Alcohol and Other Drug Service provide:
- Alcohol and Other Drug assessment
- Counselling
- Methadone maintenance treatment
- Withdrawal management
- Assessments and recommendations for Courts, NZTA, and other agencies
- Groups
- Referral to residential and day treatment programmes
- Information and advice
Treatment can focus on:
- Abstinence from alcohol/drugs
- Harm reduction
- Safer controlled use of alcohol/drugs
- Relapse prevention
Referrals are welcomed and you can contact Alcohol and Other Drug Services directly or referrals can be made through a number of sources which include, services within the hospital and other specialist mental health services, general practitioners, New Zealand Transport Agency, Justice and other community agencies.
Alcohol and Other Drug Services are provided for people over 20 years of age:
- With alcohol and/or other drug problems/dependence
- With co-existing mental health and alcohol and/or other drug disorders
- At risk of relapse
