General x-rays require no preparation and are available on a walk-in basis (no bookings required). Patients can come to the Medical Imaging department at the following days/times for their x-ray:

Monday, Tuesday and Friday: 8:30am to 4pm

Wednesday and Thursday: 9.30am to 4pm

Patients having a general x-ray must have a signed referral from their General Practitioner (GP), to be presented on arrival to the department.

If in doubt please contact the Medical Imaging department during the hours specified above, before arriving in the department.

All other procedures
require an appointment, and must be referred by a GP or a Private Specialist. The examination request form is posted in and when received, will be prioritised and an appointment made. The patient will be contacted by mail or phone of their proposed appointment date and time.

After hours

Medical Imaging staff are on call for urgent services to the Wards and Emergency Department.

Postponements

Sometimes there are patients with greater medical urgency. This may mean your appointment is postponed and will be rebooked. We will contact you should this occur.

Results

Results for x-rays and/or scans are sent to the doctor requesting the examination and to your GP or other copies as indicated on the referral form.

Reports are also available to MidCentral Health clinicians on RISWeb, PACS and the internal Éclair website.
