Meet the Management Team
MidCentral DHB is led by an Executive Team of five.

Murray has been MidCentral District Health Board’s CEO since 1999, and he led the organisation through the significant change to a district health board model.
He has gained considerable management and leadership experience across a wide range of industries – in both the public and private sectors, including primary production, tourism, pharmaceuticals and social services.
Murray’s association with MidCentral dates back to 1994 when he took up the role of General Manager, Corporate Services. Whilst undertaking this role he also acquired responsibility for managing mental health and intellectual disability services.
Murray has had, and maintains, governance roles in health related organisations plus community and privately owned entities.
Stuart moved to New Zealand in 1976 from the UK and worked in the private sector until 1988 when he joined Airways Corporation to work on the transformation of Airways into a State Owned Enterprise.
Stuart has also been involved in other State Owned Enterprise, including electricity and Agriquality during (and after) the transfer from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
Stuart has been in health since 2000 when he joined MidCentral District Health Board as General Manager, Corporate Services.
Heather trained originally as a Physiotherapist and worked for a number of years in New Zealand and Australia primarily in services for disabled people. She managed a range of Physiotherapy Services in West Australian until her return to New Zealand in 1989. She worked with the Muscular Dystrophy Association initially as the national advisory Physiotherapist and then as the Director for a number of years.
Heather then moved to the Health Funding Authority as a project manager before taking up her role as General Manager at Enable New Zealand in 2001.

Mike has a long association with health. He joined MidCentral District Health Board as General Manager, Funding Division in 2002. Prior to that he was the General Manager of Hospital and Health Services in Taranaki and Tairawhiti.
Mike is a member of DHBNZ’s Service Improvement Group, and is on the Ministry of Health led Information Liaison Group. He is also involved in PSAAP negotiation process for primary health organisation contracts. This follows his involvement in the early development of New Zealand’s primary health care strategic implementation project.

Lareen has worked in the health and disability sector for many years. She is a qualified social worker and spent many years working in public hospitals, mental health and the NGO sector before heading into management following the completion of an MBA. She was a lecturer at Massey University for three years focusing on public sector and not for profit management and leadership.
Lareen's management career responsibilities at general management level have included a wide range of the services within provider arms. Lareen joined MDHB in November 2005 from the BOPDHB where she was Acting CEO on her departure, General Manager Funding and prior to that General Manager Community Health and Disability Services.
Lareen has held a number of Board positions in her career most recently Director and alternate Director of Health Share Ltd.
