Election Timeline & General Information

The membership of DHB Board is for a three-year term. DHB elections are held triennially, in association with the local government elections, to elect seven members. The Minister of Health then appoints up to a further four members.

Election Terms

The 2007 DHB elections took place on 13 October 2007. The new Board will take office on 10 December 2007 and serve for a three year period.

The next elections will take place in 2010.

DHB Electoral Officer and Other Contacts

MidCentral DHB's Electoral Officer is John Annabell, Palmerston North City Council. John liaises with Electoral Officers from all territorial authorities within the DHB's district to co-ordinate DHB election activities.

2007 Election Timeline

9 July 2007	Enrolment update packs sent to all registered electors for them to check/update details
27 July 2007	Candidate nominations open
24 August 2007	Candiate nominations close at 12 noon
21-26 September 2007	Delivery of voting documents starts - start of voting period, special votes are issued and early processing of votes begins
13 October 2007	Election day - end of voting period at 12 noon. Announcement of preliminary votes to follow as soon as practicable after the close of voting - likely to be 14th October
From 15 October 2007	Special votes counted and official results declared (as soon as practical after all valid votes have been counted)
10 December 2007	Newly elected DHB board members take office
