On 24 July 2007, MidCentral DHB's Electoral Officer issued the following notice of elections.

Notice of Election, Nomination of Candidates, and Closing Date for Nominations for the MidCentral District Health Board 2007 Election

 

Election

Under Section 52 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, I hereby give notice that on Saturday, 13 October 2007, an election will be held for SEVEN members of the MidCentral District Health Board.

The election will be “at large” within the MidCentral District boundary. The election will be held under the Single Transferable Vote (STV) electoral system, by postal vote. The voting period will be from 21 September to 12 noon on 13 October 2007. The Electoral Officers for the Councils named below will conduct the election.

Nominations

Nominations of candidates open on Friday, 27 July 2007 and must be in my hands at Palmerston North City Council, Civic Administration Building, 32 The Square, Palmerston North not later than 12.00 noon on Friday, 24 August 2007.

A candidate may submit a candidate profile statement and recent photograph with their nomination paper for sending out with the voting documents to electors. Each candidate is also required to provide a statement of their current and any likely future conflicts of interest when lodging their nomination paper. A candidate information pack is available with nomination papers and, amongst other things, outlines the rules and procedures governing candidate profile statements and conflict of interest statements.

Each candidate must be nominated on the appropriate nomination paper, and must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 (inclusive of Goods and Services Tax) which may be paid by cash, cheque (made out to the Palmerston North City Council) or EFTPOS.

Nomination papers may be obtained from Electoral Officers as follows:

  • Palmerston North City Council, 32 The Square, Palmerston North.
  • Tararua District Council, 26 Gordon Street, Dannevirke.
  • Manawatu District Council, 135 Manchester Street, Feilding.
  • Horowhenua District Council, 126-148 Oxford Street, Levin.
  • Kapiti Coast District Council, 175 Rimu Road, Paraparaumu.

Preliminary Electoral Rolls

Preliminary electoral rolls for the election are available for public inspection at the above locations, during normal business hours, from 27 July until the rolls close at 4.00 pm on Friday, 24 August 2007. Any person who wishes to enrol or amend their enrolment details may do so, at any time before the rolls close, by:

  • Completing an enrolment form available at Post Shops or Council offices.
  • Calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56).
  • Visiting the elections website.

Any person not enrolled by 24 August may still enrol up to and including 12 October 2007, but will also need to apply to an Electoral Officer as specified above for special voting documents.
