Notice of Elections
Two formal notices of elections have been issued by the DHB Electoral Officer, John Annabell. The first relates to the opening of the DHB election period, the nomination of candidates and enrolment arrangements. The second notice sets out the candidates and voting arrangements.

FURTHER NOTICE OF ELECTION FOR THE 2010 MIDCENTRAL DISTRICT HEALTH BOARD ELECTION
Nominations have now closed for the 2010 MidCentral District Health Board election. As the number of nominations received exceeds the number of vacancies, an election as listed below will be held on Saturday 9 October 2010.
The election will be conducted by postal voting. Voting will open at 9.00am on Friday 17 September 2010 and will close at 12.00noon on Saturday 9 October 2010. The MidCentral District Health Board has resolved to process the voting documents during the voting period.
Residents within the District Health Board area and who are not listed on the final electoral rolls for the election can enrol at Post Shops, Libraries or at City or District Council offices within the area up to 4.00pm on Friday 8 October 2010. Such persons will also need to apply for a special vote.
Special voting facilities will be available at the relevant City or District Council offices in the area during normal office hours from Friday 17 September until 12.00noon on Saturday 9 October 2010. These offices include the Palmerston North City Council, and the Manawatu, Tararua, Horowhenua and Kapiti Coast District Councils.

NOTICE OF ELECTION, NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES AND ENROLMENT ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE 2010 MIDCENTRAL DISTRICT HEALTH BOARD ELECTION
Election
The following election will be held for the MidCentral District Health Board by postal vote on Saturday, 9 October 2010, under the Single Transferable Vote electoral system:
Election of SEVEN members at large by residents within the MidCentral DHB area.
Candidate names will be listed in alphabetical order on the voting documents.
Nominations
Nominations open on Friday 23 July 2010 and must be made on the appropriate nomination paper, available from the Electoral Officer and also from City and Council offices listed under the “Electoral Rolls” section of this notice. Completed nomination documents must be received by the Electoral Officer no later than 12 noon on Friday 20 August 2010. Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 incl GST, payable by eftpos, cash or cheque (made payable to Palmerston North City Council).
Candidates may submit a candidate profile statement and recent photograph for sending out with voting documents to electors. The requirements for profile statements and photos are set out in a candidate handbook which is available with the nomination papers.
MidCentral District Health Board candidates must also submit a Conflict of Interest Statement with their nominations. Requirements for the Conflict of Interest Statement are included in the candidate handbook.
Early Processing of Voting Documents
For this year’s triennial elections the MidCentral District Health Board has resolved to process the returned voting documents throughout the three week voting period.
Electoral Rolls
Preliminary electoral rolls for the above election can be inspected at the following locations during normal office hours from Friday 23 July 2010 to Friday 20 August 2010:
- Palmerston North City Council, 32 The Square, Palmerston North
- Tararua District Council, 26 Gordon Street, Dannevirke
- Manawatu District Council, 35 Manchester Street, Feilding
- Horowhenua District Council, 126-148 Oxford Street, Levin
- Kapiti Coast District Council, 175 Rimu Road, Paraparaumu
Electors may enrol or amend their enrolment details by:
- Completing an enrolment form available at Post Shops, Public Libraries or City or District Council Offices
- Calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56)
- Visiting the Elections website (www.elections.org.nz)
- Freetexting their name and address to 3676
Updates to the preliminary electoral roll close at 5pm on Friday 20 August 2010.
