Jim Jefferies
Jim is experienced in the health sector, an elected member of the MidCentral District Health Board, a member of the Hospital Committee and chairman of the Group Audit Committee. He was previously a member of the Community and Public Health Committee. Palmerston North's Aorangi Hospital specialises in elective surgery and is home to many health specialists. Jim has been involved with Aorangi for many years and is currently chairman of the board.
Jim is passionate about our region's good health. We must promote healthy lifestyles and behaviour to prevent health problems. Early detection of illness is vital and can avoid serious health consequences, therefore a skilled workforce is critical for diagnosis and treatment. Jim's priorities will improve the health of our young and old.
Jim is committed to our community, demonstrated by a decade of leadership with the Regent on Broadway and as a Palmerston North City Councillor since 1998.
Conflict of Interest Statement
I am currently Chairman of Aorangi Hospital Limited; a Manawatu based private hospital providing elective surgery and consulting rooms for health specialists. I am also a Palmerston North City Councillor. The City Council administers laws and regulations that MidCentral DHB must comply with.
To the best of my knowledge and belief, I have no other conflicts of interest with the DHB at the date of my notice of consent to being nominated as a candidate for membership of the DHB.
I do not believe any conflicts of interest are likely to arise in future other than the continuation of the conflicts of interest stated above.
