External Members of Community & Public Health Advisory Committee (3)
Andrew Ivory
Andrew has a strong interest in public service governance, together with a keen interest in public health services. He is current managing director of his own consultancy firm and serves as an independent director and board advisor to a range of companies. He is a member of the Institute of Directors.
Andrew’s background is in finance and he has worked for several large financial and banking institutions over 12 years. For five years, he taught at Massey University.
Andrew lives in Wellington where his wife works as a Public Health Researcher at the University of Otago School of Medicine.
Oriana Paewai
Oriana is the CEO of a large Iwi health provider based in Dannevirke. She became involved in the health sector in 2001 when she joined the local public health service as a Health Promotion Advisor. Shortly after, she was appointed Maori Health Manager for MidCentral Health and in 2006 moved to her current role.
Oriana represents her hapu on many organisations, including Manawhenua Hauora, the Manawatu District Council's Marae Consultative Committee, and the Raukawa District Council. She is currently a member of the Manawatu Wanganui Community Lottery Committee and Trustee and Committee Secretary of the Aorangi Marae.
Neil Perry
Neil is the managing director of his own consultancy company and has a general management background in the sport sector, waste water industry, production, and local government. He works with a range of companies (large and small) on a variety of management projects.
Neil is a board member of Young Heart Manawatu and a member of the Building & Construction Industry Training Organisation National Advisory Group. He acts as a mentor, through Vision Manawatu, as part of the Business Mentors New Zealand programme, and previously served on the New Zealand Concrete Tank Manufacturers’ Association. Neil is a keen sportsman and is currently president of Red Sox Manawatu.
External Members of Disability Support Advisory Committee (3)
Jonathan Godfrey
Dr Jonathan Godfrey works at Massey University as a Lecturer in Statistics. Jonathan has vision impairment and has an extensive knowledge of this area of disability. Through his work at Massey University and the Royal NZ Foundation of the Blind he has been closely involved in promoting and advocating for blind and disabled people.
Jonathan is a Director of the Royal NZ Foundation of the Blind, a Board Member of the Association of Blind Citizens, and Presiding Trustee of the Social Justice Trust which oversees the Central Region Advocacy Service. He is also Secretary of the Association of Blind Citizens (Mid-central branch) and previously served on the Executive of the Disability Association of Massey University.
Tawhiti Kunaiti
Tawhiti's background has primarily been in the retention and revitalisation of Te Reo Maori for the wellbeing of whanau Maori. He has worked in the education and welfare sectors, and also as a researcher at Massey University’s School of Maori Studies.
In 2004, Tawhiti joined the local public health service as a Health Promotion Advisor – Sexual Health. In 2008 he moved to the Manawatu Primary Health Organisation where he currently holds the role of Maori Liaison Manager.
He is a keen supporter of Kapa Haka and has been involved as a performer, tutor and adjudicator at local, regional, and national events.
Kevin Miles
Kevin’s background is in education and he worked as a secondary school teacher for over 25 years in the science department. He has also been actively involved in his community, serving on many voluntary organisations.
Kevin is a member of Parkinson’s New Zealand, and is Chairman of the Kapiti/Horowhenua Parkinson’s Society. He is also a member of the Stroke Foundation. In these roles, and as a full-time carer, Kevin is an advocate for disability support services. He resides in Levin.
External Members of Hospital Advisory Committee (3)
Stephen Paewai
Stephen has been involved in local health and Maori affairs for over 30 years. He has a management background and has worked in the health, legal, education, and Maori government sectors. He is a member of the Central Primary Health Organisation and Tararua REAP, and is also trustee on two Maori Trusts.
Living in Dannevirke with a young family, Stephen has a strong interest in health, particularly Maori health. He is very involved with Rangitaane o Tamaki nui a Rua and his local community.
Kerry Simpson
Kerry is a Chartered Accountant, and Director of a local accounting firm, AllanMcNeill. As a Director she leads the firm’s commercial team, working with a variety of organisations on all aspects of their business, including strategic planning, management accounting, business development, marketing, and policies/planning.
Kerry is a member of the Manawatu Commerce Centre, and a Past Affiliate member of the Franchise Association of Australia & New Zealand. In 1995 she was awarded the Manawatu Business Woman of the Year.
Cynric Temple-Camp
Cynric is a Pathologist who has lived in Palmerston North since coming to New Zealand from Africa in 1987. He is married to Elaine, who is a Haematologist at MidCentral Health and they have three children. Cynric is the CEO of Medlab Central, which is the medical laboratory supplying pathology services in the hospital, within the city and the Manawatu, as well as in Wanganui and Hawke’s Bay.
Cynric has served as a previous Chairman and is currently a member of the New Zealand Association of Private Pathology Practices, a business related committee overseeing community pathology practice in New Zealand. He is a member of the Sonic Healthcare Pathology Executive Committee, which oversees laboratory operations in both New Zealand and Australia. He currently represents the Health sector on the Manawatu Chamber of Commerce, where he has a special interest in the health infrastructure within the region.
Cynric serves as an elected member of the New Zealand Committee of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.
In the course of his professional work, Cynric works closely with all segments of the medical community, nurses and doctors, general practitioners and specialists, pharmacists and cervical smear takers and he is deeply committed to the City and the surrounding region.
