Profile of Board Members
A brief profile on members of MidCentral DHB's Board is provided below. This includes their background, membership of MDHB committees, and when they were first appointed/elected to the Board.
Chairmanship of the Board changes on 1 January 2010 when Ian Wilson's statutory term ends. The following sets out membership for 2010.
Phil Sunderland, Chairman

Phil is a senior partner in a Palmerston North law firm and practices in the area of commercial law. He is a solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and past president of the Manawatu District Law Society.
Phil has had a longstanding association with local health services, serving previously on the Palmerston North Hospital Board and the Palmerston North Hospice Trust. He was also Chairman of the Manawatu-Wanganui Medical Ethics Committee and the Manawatu Cancer Society. Phil has been involved in tertiary education and rugby organisations.

Diane Anderson

Diane's background is in community and rural advocacy. She has served as a local government Councillor, and previously was a member of the Conservation Board. Diane was instrumental in the establishment of the Eketahuna Health Centre.

Lindsay Burnell

Lindsay has a farming operation, and holds various Directorships in the agriculture and power industries.
Lindsay is involved in local government, and served as a Councillor for 30 years.

Graeme Campbell

Graeme is a retired doctor, and worked for many years in both the public health system and in private practice in Manawatu and Horowhenua area. For most of this time he was a General Surgeon, but latterly was Emergency Department Director for MidCentral Health. Graeme has a Diploma in Health Administration.

Ann Chapman, Deputy Chair

Ann has a clinical background, and continues her interest in Otaki community health, after being the founding member and Chair of the Otaki Community Health Trust. Ann is involved in local government, being a Councillor/Deputy Mayor for over 17 years. Ann is a JP and was awarded the MNZM in 2008.

Jack Drummond

A practising GP, Jack is also a Senior Police Medical Officer specialising in forensic medicine. He is a Fellow of the Australian& NZ Colleges of GPs, and holds a Diploma in Forensic Medicine.

Dennis Emery

Of Ngati Maniapoto and Ngati Kauwhata descent, Dennis works for local Iwi health initiatives, and holds a directorship with a medical insurance company. Prior to this he had extensive experience in Iwi health management, mental health, the meat industry and Trade Union movement.

Jim Jefferies

Jim is a Chartered Accountant, Business Advisor and Company Director. Jim is also involved in local government, being a City Councillor since 1998. He chairs Aorangi Hospital, our locally owned private surgical hospital.

Stephen Paewai

Stephen has been involved in local health and Maori affairs for over 30 years. He has a management background and has worked in the health, legal, education, and Maori government sectors. He is a member of the Tararua Primary Health Organisation.

Barbara Robson

Barbara's background involves consumer and community health advocacy, and dental nursing. She is involved in a number of national health committees, providing a consumer perspective.

David Warburton

David is Chief Executive of CPG-NZ and CPB-AU, a professional consultancy firm. He is also a Company Director, with current directorships in a number of manufacturing, packaging and infrastructure businesses.
David has an extensive background in marketing and management in many sectors, including manufacturing, tertiary education, retailing companies and agri-business. He also has local government experience, serving as CEO of Wanganui District Council for two years.
A Wanganui resident, David is also Deputy Chair, Whanganui District Health Board.
