Board and Committees:  Governing the DHB

The Board of MidCentral DHB is responsible for governing the organisation.  It has established committees, standing orders, and procedures to enable it to carry out its role.
  • How the Board Works


    Meetings of the Board and its three statutory committees are open to the public. Members of the public may seek to speak to the Board and its statutory Committees, and can participate in the three public forums the Board holds each year.

  • Board and Committee Membership


    The board has 11 members, seven elected by the public and four appointed by the Minister of Health. In addition, up to three external (ie non-Board Members) are appointed by the Board to Committees.

  • Community & Public Health Advisory Committee


    The Community & Public Health Advisory Committee has nine members, and advises on the health and disability needs of the population of MidCentral. The committee also gives advice on priorities for use of the funding provided by the Crown.

  • Disability Support Advisory Committee


    The Disability Support Advisory Committee has eight members, and advises on the disability support needs of the resident population of the District Health Board. It also provides advice to the Board on priorities for use of the disability support funding provided.

  • Hospital Advisory Committee


    The Hospital Advisory Committee hasnine members, and advises on the performance of MidCentral Health the DHBs provider of hospital and associated services. It meets monthly (except January).

  • Terms of Reference


    All Committees of the Board have terms of reference which set out their role and delegated powers.

  • Meeting Dates


    The Board and Committees (Community & Public Health and Hospital Advisory) meet every six weeks, for a total of eight times each per year. The Disability Advisory CommHospiittee meets three times per year.

    Board and Committee meetings are held on a Tuesday.

  • Order Papers (Agendas)


    Order papers (agendas) are developed for each meeting, and set out the items and recommendations to be considered. Copies of the order paper are available on-line and at the Board/Committee meeting.

  • MDHB Board & Committee Minutes


    Minutes are made available as soon as possible. Until they have been approved by the Board/Committee, they are "unconfirmed".
