Meetings of the Board and its three statutory committees are open to the public. Members of the public may seek to speak to specific agenda items, and can participate in the four public forums the Board holds each year.
The board has 11 members, seven elected by the public and four appointed by the Minister of Health. In addition, up to three external (ie non-Board Members) are appointed by the Board to Committees.
The Community & Public Health Advisory Committee has nine members, and advises on the health and disability needs of the population of MidCentral. The committee also gives advice on priorities for use of the funding provided by the Crown.
The Disability Support Advisory Committee has eight members, and advises on the disability support needs of the resident population of the District Health Board. It also provides advice to the Board on priorities for use of the disability support funding provided.
The Hospital Advisory Committee has 10 members, and advises on the performance of MidCentral Health – the DHB’s provider of hospital and associated services. It meets monthly (except January).
All Committees of the Board have terms of reference which set out their role and delegated powers.
Meeting of MidCentral DHB’s Board are held on the third Tuesday of each month, except January. Committee meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month.
Order papers (agendas) are developed for each meeting, and set out the items and recommendations to be considered. Copies of the order paper are available on-line and at the Board/Committee meeting.
Minutes are made available as soon as possible. Until they have been approved by the Board/Committee, they are "unconfirmed".
